On February 20th 2012 the Washington Capitals played against the Carolina Hurricanes and had a disappointing loss with a score of 5-0

Alex Ovechkin is the captain of the Washington Capitals as we all know, but is it right to let him wear the big "C"? 

During the game the Canes scored two goals with in seconds of each other, you want to blame the defense but is it really there fault that goals were scored against them? i dont think so much that they wanted to i mean they tried but with little help from other players they cant do it alone. The game continued to get worse Ovi started getting even angrier.......than a shocking thing that you never thought a captain would do happened

Ovechkin stole the puck away from one of his own players wanting to score a goal like Ovi ALWAYS wants to do by him self, for himself and only him self........but he made one mistake when he got the puck poke checked away from him causing the Carolina Hurricanes to score a goal once again, the Washington Capitals showed lots of effort but lots of mistakes we made as well.

Through out the whole game Alex started getting angrier and angrier till his attitude showed when not once but several times he slammed the bench door behind him, swear words started coming out and the attitude began to grow more and more as the game went on, understandable when you are losing and haven't even scored one goal.......but if you remember he has a big history for his anger especially when it came to his coaches orders.

Remember their last coach Bruce Boudreau?  
If i recall correctly he sat Ovechkin out for one shift and Ovi turned around and yelled at him asking why he sat him out rather than let him play, that was a tense moment but we all know the coach knows what hes doing so arguing with him is a waist of breath, There was a film a few months back in October called What NHL Players Really Think.

In this video the reporters asked the hockey players questions that they had to answer of course like a normal interview.
Here are the questions and Ovi's answers (Quoted exactly)

1.which player's highlights do you watch the most?  Ovechkin: Myself
Dion Phaneuf: Some of the plays Sid and Ovi make are second to none 

2.who's the fastest player in the NHL? Ovechkin: Me

3.who's the hardest to knock off the puck? Ovechkin: You know the answer 

there was 4 more questions but because all Ovechkin could say was himself they did not want to hear anymore so they didn't ask ovechkin any more........but did you notice how i put Dion Phaneufs answer in there? see how he compliment Ovechkin? that my friend looks like a true captain there. some one who could make a comment about some one other than themselves is what a captain is all about they arent friends or team mates but they still compliment their team mates and others.......Ovechkin didn't even mention a single Washington Capital other than himself.

Ok understandable if you don't believe that makes a captain....how about the fact that the captain is meant to make sure he can make the team continuously win and have the motivation and thrive to make them win, Ovechkin shows very little of that, props to Ovechkin on his work but he still doesn't have the potential to be a captain what so ever. Maybe an alternate but not even that is good enough for him.

its not up to me or the fans but he lacks the determination and passion for the game it is like the money and fame has gotten to his head and he feels he is owed everything.......reality is Alex is not owed much he should be happy he is here people fight for the spot he is in every season and he abuses the power of it by being selfish and ungrateful. 

If only Alex Ovi shills down the all about me for a while then maybe the Washington Capitals will win a few, remember Ovi's suspension when he was gone? when he was gone it gave other people to take shots on goal and score.....like Brooks Laich has started scoring more and Alex Semin people you don't see much happening from where doing an amazing job the were winning games and i mean losing a few but they were getting back in to shape........Ovechkin comes back and it was like putting a brick in water they sank FAST.

Maybe Ovechkin should take a break or try some where new for a while because you never know maybe he is the reason Washington cannot succeed.

I'm just saying before he came back they were doing good but then surprise and down she goes!!!!
